Beaches

Puerto de la Cruz has two big beaches with promenades, showers, bathrooms, restaurants, shops and bay watch. The newer one lies in the east of the city close to the saltwater pools of Largo Martianez, its called PLAYA MARTIANEZ.

The second and older was designed by the famous Canarian artist Cesar Manrique and lies close to the diving centre right next to the Loro Parque in the west of the city. This beach is called PLAYA JARDIN, offering a playground for kids, beach volleyball fields and a beautiful promenade and tropical garden. Here you have a small "Live view" of the PLAYA JARDIN :

The beaches above are equipped with wave protectors and are artificial.

Everybody willing to walk a little can find a natural beach to the east of Puerto called PLAYA BOLLULLO. A natural beach, no wave protectors, which can be reached over a never ending stairway below banana plantations.

If you have a car you find, in the direction of 'Icod de los Vinos' in the west, an exit to the PLAYA SOCORRO. The road leads directly down to a big parking lot next to the beach. But be careful, no wave protectors, and the name says it all, "Socorro" is Spanish for "HELP"!

Further to the west are several smaller and large natural beaches that can only be reached by car if you stay in Puerto.

If the weather is really bad you can pass over to the other side of the island to enjoy the only white beach of Tenerife, north of Santa Cruz, called the PLAYA LAS TERRECITAS, or go south to ABADES just before the airport. Car provided of course.
